Wekiwa Springs State Park
On today's adventure into nature we head over to Wekiwa Springs State Park located in Apopka, FL, which is just outside of Orlando. When we were searching for things to do around Orlando we came across this park, the biggest draw here was the crystal clear water that you're able to swim in beginning at 8am every morning. The water is a cool 72 degrees year-round. I'm not a fan of cold water and for me it really wasn't too bad. Could have been all of the people in the water, but wasn't bad at all.
The springs does not have a lifeguard on duty, so swimming is at your own risk. We HIGHLY RECOMMEND getting here for park opening. We got here around 8:20am and we waited for a little over an hour, just to get to the pay booth. Lines are long and move slowly so be prepared for that. The cutoff cars after a certain point, which when we left around 11am they had already cut off cars from coming in. In addition to swimming, the state park has so many other things to do, everything from walking trails to canoeing & kayaking. You can find other things to do on the Florida State Parks website.
In the area we were in you first start off by a view of the large hillside area, which is for anyone who wants to take their towel and lay out in the sun. On the side to the right is the grilling area, which you will need to bring your own supplies and food for. Down the hill you come to the crystal clear spring water. Just find a spot to put your stuff down and jump right in! People brought towels, innertubes, tents, just about everything. Definitely worth checking out.
This is the hillside area for laying out in the sun, it stretches back, and to the left. Lot's of room, we never once felt crowded at any point both here and in the water.
To the right was the grilling area. Plenty of room here to grill. Bring your own grill and food.
Here is the swimming area of the springs.
This is about 4 feet deep and crystal clear all the way down. It's amazing!
The area for the young children.
View from where we put our stuff.
We started out the tour all the way back at the hillside and now are at the end of the swimming area. Plenty of space.
This is behind the swimming area on the bridge. This is where you can rent canoes and kayaks.
Here are the pricing.
Thank you for coming along on our tour of Wekiwa Springs State Park.
