Kona Cafe

Kona Cafe - Disney's Polynesian Resort

One of our favorite places to eat at, no matter the time of day is the Kona Cafe. This place has consistently had great food. Walking into the lobby alone before you get to the Kona Cafe at the Polynesian Resort is an experience in itself. The main reason why is if you look straight ahead you have a perfect view of Cinderella Castle.

We've dined here for every meal and all meal's have been great. Good variety and flavor overall is good. We always enjoyed our meals here and always look forward to coming back.

This is the Kona Island which is a walk-up option if the Cafe is too full.

The retired Big Kahuna. It was a sampling of egg, toast, sausage, bacon, potatoes and pancakes. It was a great meal that gave you a chance to have a little of everything. Great flavor, hopefully it makes its return someday.

The is the famous Tonga Toast! It is Banana-stuffed French Toast rolled in Cinnamon Sugar and served with a Strawberry Compote. The picture doesn't do it justice to the pure size of this amazing dish! A friend did say that this is also available in the quick service location at the Polynesian Resort as well. Flavor was so good on this dish, loved the sweetness.

On to another meal. This is the bread service available. Now this isn't just normal bread and butter, this was maybe the best bread and butter in all of Disney World. The butter has chunks of pineapple and it is to die for! The bread is so soft and every bite is better than the next.

A few beer options on the flight.

These were the Pot Stickers. Overall great flavor was an amazing sauce. Really enjoyed this dish.

So the Pot Stickers that we just showed you is what the Kona Cafe used to have, well now they have these Pot Stickers, well the Crispy Pork-Vegetable Pot Stickers. Underneath that sensational pancake are the pot stickers. This was one of the absolute dishes we've ever had in Disney. The sauce it was with really put this already great dish over the edge for us! This dish is part of their revamped menu and a MUST-TRY!

These are the Sticky Wings served with a Mustard Sauce. Personally I don't care for the flavor of these. Wasn't much of the sauces that I didn't like but more of the chicken flavor I didn't enjoy. After thinking it might have been a fluke, we got it again and felt the same way again.

The old Sticky Wings were now revamped with the new Fire-Roasted Pork Wings with Honey Bacon. Need I saw more! Seriously who thinks to put this flavor combo together. That bacon was out of this world and tasted great either on its on or with that tender pork wing. Another MUST-TRY! Again part of the revamped menu.

This is the Kona Sampler, which is Nigiri, Sashimi, California Roll and Tuna Poke. We were just crazing something different and ended up getting this. It was so good, I never thought that I'd enjoy it as much as I did. I like sushi but this was just great. Highly recommend it!

How about kid's sushi? Well adults can get this dish, don't worry no fish here. It was a fun dish to get at least once, but not the most amazing flavors, overall good.

Here we have the Island-style Beef Burger, on the burger you also have Char Siu Pork Belly, Soft-poached Egg, Harvarti Cheese, Mustard Greens, Spicy Mayo and Pickled Onions on a Pineapple Brioche Bun. This was one of the best burgers I've ever had a Disney. Loved every bite of this.

Keeping up with Kona's revamped menu here is their Big Kahuna Burger, which is Sauteed Pastrami, Corned Beef, Pepper Jack Cheese and a Mustard Aioli. This was a pretty good burger. Kona has some really good burgers. However the Island-style Beef Burger was a little bit better than this one, that is still my favorite. This was in my top 5, really good flavor.

Rare occasion, but they did offer the 'Ohana Bread Pudding, well not what we were used to having next door. Hopefully it's not the flavors going forward.
