Titanic Dinner Gala (International Drive)

Titanic Dinner Gala

We take a drive down I-Drive and head to the Titanic Exhibition. We've been to this dinner show several times and it's become one of our favorites. It is a very emotional and entertaining experience. It starts off by entering the building and checking in. You first pickup your passenger card, this will tell you some facts about an actual passenger of the Titanic. Now this card is very important so make sure to read some of the facts about the passenger, such as where they were from, where they were going and anything else that might be good to help bring up conversation with other guests. As you wait for the dinner to officially begin, you have a chance to grab a drink (not included) at the cash bar as well as some snacks the crew provides (included). After a few minutes the actors who portray some real passengers will come out. It's more of a cocktail party before the dinner. Some passengers include, Margaret Brown, Thomas Andrews & Bruce Ismay.

Next your on a quick pace guided tour. Along the way you will see some replica items such as huge propellers (known as screws), as well as some actual artifacts from the ship. It is amazing and a bit surreal to see some of these items right in front of you. One piece that always gets me is this set of pans from the galley, which are located outside of the dining room. The way it is shown is unbelievable and to think of the devastating events from that night. After you take the short tour, you end up at the Grand Staircase, here you will get a chance to have your picture taken (you cannot take pictures), which will be available for purchase at the end of the evening.

So before you're called into the dining room you're able to check out some more artifacts and replica items. Since this is an evening where you're transported into 1912, photos are not allowed throughout the evening. During the day you're able to do a self-guided tour and you can take pictures then, just not of the staircase.

Next your called to your table for dinner. Here you with get more chances to mingle with the other passengers. The theme is a party for Captain Smith, put on by Molly Brown. Throughout the evening they have some funny moments and then things take a bit of a turn. After our meal we are then escorted to the Grand Staircase, were we get news that we've struck an ice berg. You continue on the tour to the bridge, where the Captain is at. Then we head out to the deck and are split into men on one side and women and children on the other. This is to show how families were split during that night. Finally your tour ends next to several large plaques on the wall of all of the passengers (separated by class and crew). Here you learn the faith of your passenger.

Overall we LOVE this dinner gala. It is a good chance to get a sense of what happened on that devastating night that changed many lives and history. It has a lot of fun moments, sad moments and informative moments. We highly recommend coming here and doing the dinner. We've been several times and it get's better and better each time.

As the writing of this blog, we've been a total of three times. Our most recent visit was January 2020, before that was in 2016. Such an improvement to the entire venue and show. It was good before, it was even better now. Also heard that they are going to be doing more throughout the year.

Again no pictures are allowed during dinner, however during the regular tour pictures are allowed.

Some complementary food options.

Replica of the first class sitting room.

Our salad course.

No one could figure out what this was. Some liked it, some hated it. Me I enjoyed it.

Chicken and Steak with Twice Baked Potato and Green Beans. Steak was cooked perfect, nice flavor. Chicken I loved. Not generally a fan of grilled chicken, but it was moist and tasted spot on. Potato was great as well. Vegetables, well....they were fine.

Finally we had dessert. Nice option.

The dining room. In the back is a bar (cash).

 Some of the artifacts.

 The beautiful Grand Staircase.

 Yes, this is real!

Freezing!
